Walk For Tigers

Walk For Tigers

On the occasion of World Environment Day we at Singapore International School planned a Walk for Tigers in association with the Kids for Tigers and Sanctuary Magazine. Students spent nearly two weeks collecting pledges to cover the number of circuits each one would cover while walking around the football field. They also prepared art work displays, masks, bulletin boards, head bands etc carrying the message of saving tigers and forests. Teachers were involved in bringing about awareness and sharing facts about conservation while monitoring creative displays and the involvement of each child from KG1 to grade 6.
Kindergarten 1&2 were taught a conservation song while the percussion band made up of grade 2 & 3 practiced their beats.
On the day of the event large cartons with background information of the tiger sanctuaries in India were placed around the football field to make up the pit stops on the field.
The percussion band greeted participants and on lookers followed by the kindergarten crooners who sang the message of the day.
Soon the walkers were at the starting line, over 150 students, teachers, parents and guests walked the circuit recording the number of rounds and contributing their pledged amount towards tiger conservation.
The event was covered by NDTV news, while our associates from Sanctuary Magazine and Kids for Tigers witnessed the event.
It was a proud moment for our young naturalists and a grand culmination of the year long activities on saving planet earth.
A clear message from our young ones,
Of conservation a way of life,
Always, not only once.
