Middle Division News

Mrs. Vijaya Jegatheesan (MD COORDINATOR)

The students in the Middle Years are always full of energy and are in the process of transition: whereby they are neither children nor are they adults. As academicians, this period of transition is one of the most interesting phases to observe and to deal with because, the changes are biological, cognitive, social, and emotional.

This keeps the Middle Division buzzing with activity at all times, during, before and after lessons as well as between lessons. In all this, we, as a school are continually monitoring the progress of all the wards under our care and devising ways and means to enrich and enhance their learning experience. We pride ourselves in enriching all our students by exposing them to varied and various stimuli besides the academic experience. Our aim is the same as that of you, parents, in that, we want to not only raise successful children, but also be able to see responsible global citizens of tomorrow .

In our endeavour to fulfill this promise to ourselves and to you, some of our select students started the year by being a part of the MUN Conference in China. This week-long conference resulted in our students taking part in debates and deliberations concerning the world and did themselves and the school proud

Likewise, the students successfully represented SIS in the football championship organized by Jamnabhai Narsee School, Cathedral Lonavala School and Hiranandani Foundation School. Within the school, students have been exposed to an array of activities ranging from the Debating activities like Hindi and English Debates, Inter-School Simulated Economic Forum to the Science Symposium. This was also a year for many activities that were pilot projects

The introduction of a series of assessments to evaluate student learning provided the children with an opportunity to develop confidence and aim at mastering different skills at the relevant level. On the academic front, we have managed to reach newer milestones and build on our previous successes. The IGCSE results this year, was among the best in the history of SIS, to date. Encouraged by this, we now intend to attain higher standards and better these results in the years ahead, confident of your continued support and co,operation.

Finally, I would like to conclude by drawing your attention to the ever increasing SIS family, that continues to grow in strength, both in terms of faculty and the students. Is is a source of immense pleasure to reiterate that the new staff and the new students are comfortably ensconced in the SIS fraternity and I am confident that as SIS extends to include newer members, they would be warmly embraced into the fold and together, we can strive to achieve the common goal of excellence, become the school you and our children will be proud of.
