Report on the Residential Life at SIS

Through our co-educational residential programme our students of ages (10 to 18) are guided into a successful independent learners in a safe and secure environment. Students at SIS have distinctive opportunities to be a part of a multicultural community of young people as Term or Weekly Boarders.
Studies show that residential school graduates not only excel at university, but advance rapidly in their professional careers. The residential campus environment ensures that students are immersed in an educational world where learning is central to all activities. SIS Residential Life programme bestows on students an independence they would not have living at home. It’s an ideal preparation for the challenges and responsibilities of adult life.
SIS residential life is built around the concept of being" A home away from home". We have 90 boarders at present -Boys -62 and Girls 28. At the start of the school year the boarders were pleasantly surprised to return to their refurbished dormitories which had more facilities  and comforts for all!. Indeed it was a pleasant home- coming for  our boarders!!
The Pastoral Care team this year has been expanded-  Pastoral Care Head, two Personal Counselors and two boys Wardens and one exclusively for girls to ensure better care and  attention.
During the week days the daily routine sets  the tone for establishing that there is "time and place for everything-, there is time for enrichment, supervised study ,self study study, extra sports and games, club activities, leisure and a time to sleep. All of this is wrapped up in providing ample opportunities to build social and organization skills and develop a greater intercultural understanding, common experience, camaraderie and friendship. Of course it also gives the boarders exclusive access to the school facilities.
I am happy to report that our in house staff have been actively supporting the academics in the residential life of SIS.Our in- house staff consists of  most of IBDP and IGCSE mainstream teachers and all our ex-pat staff at the disposal of our boarders. Maths,English and Physics which is the main areas in which students require assistance we have  our best of our faculty available for all. The challenge at times is to get the students to the teachers! I believe for students especially wishing to do well in the IGCSE and IBDP , SIS boarding is the place to be in !!
